We visited Yvonne ’s young Virginia garden ( Yvonne ’s New Garden in Virginia ) on the GPOD before , and today she ’s sharing more .
I ’m sending two stage set of video — one for thewoodlandwalk and the 2nd for the Japanese - inspired garden . I ’m especially gallant of these section , as I design and plant them myself ( with the exception of the trees and great shrubs ) . The “ forest ” when we move in five twelvemonth ago lie in of several pitch-black walnut tree , two native opprobrious cherries , two aboriginal persimmons , long ton of invasive bamboo , poison ivy , bramble , weeds , and groundless onions . We clear out most of the nontree scrub and planted seven newfangled trees .
In this “ before ” picture , you’re able to see the landscape painting tarpaulin we put down for 18 calendar month afterward to try and suppress the violent Allium cepa . We then establish more understory trees , and over the next three year planted several shrubs and perennials . I ’ve put in quite a fewground coversto outgrow theweedsand remaining waste onions .

rock and forest slice walkways provide an well-heeled route through the timberland . Evergreenconifersand bush ply social organization and boundary hedging .
I focus on interesting coloring andvariegation in foliage .
Sliced logarithm make a beautiful pathway though the Wood .

Until the tone trees mature , it continues to be gay in some parts of the timber , allowing plants more typically associated with full - sun locations to thrive .
The forest garden is set out to satisfy in and expect beautiful .
