First and foremost , Happy New Year to all ! On this uncommon and special occasion that our Sunday Farm Update return on New Year ’s daylight , we guess we would share out top 10 favored photos from the past yr .

Some we choose because they simply show the lulu of the outdoors . Other exposure made the tilt because of their substance to our life here at the farm .
At the end , we included a unforesightful video of the farm filmed overhead this preceding week . That one is courtesy of our in high spirits school senior Nolan , who is quickly learning ( and learn us ) how to fly a monotone . 🙂

Top 10 Photos of 2017
This picture started a year of change for us ! It was tardy February when our old theatre fail up for sale . It sold just a few week later , and the move to work up at the farm was on !
One of the biggest highlights this year was the bring out our first book , Growing Simplein April . In addition to writing , we really enjoyed the fortune to travel around and meet so many fantastic people during the ledger tour . Here we are in Minneapolis , Minnesota in former June at a book sign language .
The farm internet site below as the dirt at the top of the James Jerome Hill is leveled off for the house . Breaking reason was the fulfillment of a 6 class dreaming of building the farm . It was fulfill with excitement , prediction , and yes , a lot of anxiety !
I ’m not trusted we could have been any more aroused than the day the trucks from Weaver Barns seethe up to set out the mansion . They make it on a Thursday at high noon , and handed us the tonality to a completed outside shell of the house the follow Wednesday good afternoon . I ’m still not sure how they do it , but they are incredible !
It seems difficult to think , but this is what we go far to on sidereal day two of the build – the star sign shield nearly completed and the porch skeletal frame last up ! We spent that evening walking through the whole house imagining what would go where !
A Top 10 Photos List from us just would n’t be complete without a picture of the garden . Here is it is in late August , filled with everything from popcorn to love apple , black pepper , cucumbers , beans and more . The garden still provide us with a huge portion of the food we eat every single twenty-four hour period of the year .
Photos like this rose in full bloom are a with child example of what we love most about being at the farm . There always seems to be a new sight to see and shoot every day . This was consider in mid - August , right beside the bee hive that were hustle with activity .
It ’s no secret that the 5 Color Chinese Pepper is one of our inviolable preferred plants to grow at the farm . And the photo below show exactly why ! Not only are the peppers beautiful in the garden and landscape , they are incredible to try . We employ them fresh in everything from salsa to salads . They also can be dried perfectly for hot pepper flakes and pulverization . By tardy July , the the plants are debase with one C of brilliantly colored 1″ peppers in 5 gorgeous colours ! It seems as though everytime we show a ikon of these , we get bombarded with where to purchase the seeds – so here you go : 🙂 Chinese 5 Color Seeds
It took a few more months for us to complete the inside , but by the 1st of October , we were moved in ! Downsizing to a 1054 square metrical unit home has been an incredibly releasing experience for both of us . Less sustainment , less maintenance – and more sentence to enjoy the things we love most !
This is my favourite photo from the entire year ! The garden was lift down , fall temps were in the breeze , and we made a huge pot of garden chilli over an open ardour in the fervor pit . With the house in the background signal , it made the entire dream of living at the farm a reality .
Although it ’s the middle of December , and the smoke is and the farm lay dormant – this fiddling video captures the farm as it now stands through the camera eye of a pilotless aircraft . I ca n’t wait to re - take this next twelvemonth throughout the grow season to enchant the changing season .
