Six on Saturday. 2nd March.
I am get together in this democratic meme today , Six on Saturdayhosted byThe Propagator , although being constrained by only six items is a problem for me once I get give out .
Number one , I just observe today thatMagnolia‘Black Tulip ’ is very unwisely project off its furred overcoating . It usually flower in April so I am a little anxious for it . It is a splendid prime , not black , but dark burgundy and chalice -shaped .

Catkins have been awing this year and I am very tender of the long jade fleeceable ones on theGarrya elliptica‘James Roof ’ . I do n’t have a go at it who James Roof was but this is the garrya with the long catkin .

Of course , when we talk about catkins we have to include Pussy Willow . I have three favourites . One is the pinkSalix gracilistyla‘Mount Aso ’ .

The 2d has sinister catkin ending in little cat ’ claws and is very striking .

The third has very delicate little pussy willow on an refined shrub and is calledSalixpurpurea‘Nancy Saunders ’ , but you have to take my word for the ravisher of this one because I forget to take a pic and now it ’s getting too grim , but it seems churlish to leave it out when it is so pretty .
I do n’t normally have a yield harvesting in late winter but this twelvemonth my Citrus limon tree diagram has stand out itself and so I am going to make lemon posset for my guests tomorrow . Some of them are rather an odd shape but never listen . This stinker tree spends the winter in my summertime house and lately I have been taking my java down there because it is a dainty place to sit in February .
I am very thankful for this lovely pile of manure which is going to be a luscious goody for my rose . limited thanks to my lovely Pianist who went up the road and got it for me , a labor of lovemaking indeed . The Pianist always says he believes in the dignity of toil , but not his labour . So shovelling excrement is not his favourite occupation . Thanks also to Pickle the horse who is owed an extra nice carrot . I would like more than this really but I think I ’d be labour my luck to propose it .

Now how many is that ? I must polish off with some some shots of my winter garden which is delighting me this year as it is nicely fledged at last .

The little Japanese Apricot , Prunus mume‘Omoi - na ma ’ lights up this part of the garden . I believe it means ‘ As I reflect ’ in English .

Many thanks to our boniface , The Propagator , do go and look at the other Six on Saturdayers , it is quite a company .
Each month I publish about my top ten blossom and take you to join in and share yours too . Up to now it has been rather a moveable feast depend when I could be bothered . I have decided that it is undue to ask you to link in when the date depend on my notion so I am going to fix it at the 23rd of each month . I trust this will make it well-situated for multitude to join in and share their favourite seasonal flush .

Love your garden and peculiarly the summerhouse . We have the same collection plate ( the yellow one with an owl ) . Mine was a gift from my daughter .
Oh my good – what a stunning selection of shrub you have – so much interest at this time of year . Catkins a go go !
