Making the most of a small garden space

Today we ’re call in with Seth Kilgore .

Here are some picture of mytiny garden . I garden in Plymouth and Boston , Massachusetts . I have four plots in three unlike community garden , plus my lilliputian railyard in Plymouth . I enjoy having different gardens to tend because the common sense of uncovering is a delight with each sojourn .

All the plants in this photo were taken from my mother ’s garden before we sell her home . It offer me joy for many reasons .

I am most concerned inconifersfor landscape gardening because of theyear - round of golf interestthey provide in New England .

Junipers(Juniperussp . , Zones 3–9 ) cover this slope with durable , evergreen leaf .

Coral - barque Japanese maple(Acerpalmatum‘Sango kaku ’ , Zones 5–9 ) provides brilliantcolor all winterlong thanks to the lustrous bark on its subdivision . Combining this with coniferous tree ensures that this garden wait big any Clarence Shepard Day Jr. of the year , even through the white calendar month .

Myrabbitremediation crusade — while the rabbits may ignore it , my neighbors get a kick out of it .

My favorite combination is thescreeningfrom the neighbour next doorway . The contrast of the shine of the Manhattan euonymus(Euonymuskiautschovicus‘Manhattan ’ , zone 5–8 ) and the frilly ‘ Degroot ’s Spire ’ arborvitae(Thujaoccidentalis‘Degroot ’s Spire ’ , Zones 2–7 ) appeals to me and is most effective with its mission of providing a dependable cover .
