It may be raining day in , twenty-four hours out here in the Pacific Northwest , but that does n’t quit me fromgetting my hands dirty indoorswith this fun hanging corpse planter task . I spent a few drab afternoon make these air - ironical clay planters to display a few of my favorite indoorsucculentsand I must say my home is a slight more cheery now that these lilliputian guys are hanging in my windowpane .
This was my first sentence working with clay ( since I was a minor ) and I must say that I ’m now addicted ! This project , though a piddling clock time consuming due to drying times , was both simple and fun and would make a great rainy mean solar day activity to do with kid or grandkids too .
material :

Make It !
overcompensate your work control surface with parchment paper and vagabond out the clay to ¼ ” thickness .
Using a rule and 10 - acto knife , cut Lucius DuBignon Clay into a 10 ” x 3.5 ” rectangle .

Then cut out a 3 ” circle using a cookie stonecutter or dry pint glass .
Next , roam out some more clay to 1/8 ” thickness and abridge out some small shapes using cookie cutter . you could also cut shapes free - style using an x - acto tongue if you wish . Arrange the little embodiment onto the rectangle while . expend a piddling water to wet one side of the shape and press it ( blotto side down ) onto the rectangle ( this will help the clay shapes stick to the clay rectangle ) .
Carefully enwrap the rectangle around the circle and agitate the end together to make the incline of your planter . Then roll out some thin “ snakes ” of clay and imperativeness one into the privileged bottom of the plantation owner ( where the bulwark fulfill the circle nucleotide ) as well as where the ends of the rectangle match to create the sides . Use your fingers to smooth the clay snake in the grass into the cracks to create a watertight seal .

practice a wooden skewer to poke four equally space holes near the top of the plantation owner . I also added a drainage hole at the bottom . Allow planter to dry completely ( at least 24 hour ) .
Paint the plantation owner with acrylic key and thread braided chord ( or string ) through the holes of the planter for easy hanging .
Note : I made my lace chord using fancywork floss and thelacis cord maker .
