Though I have no formal training in hand - on - horticulture , I have adored garden all my life and have been law-abiding of those elements that appeal to me . After retiring , I call back I ’d try try my hired hand at landscape painting pattern . Green - on - green is soothing to me . But who does n’t like color ? I also keep two manageable , perennial garden plots filled with color mostly in a fortunate pallet .
This is an absolutely beautiful , but simple , combination . make out deadnettle ( genus Lamium maculatum , Zones 3–8 ) is a vigorous ( sometimes a little too vigorous ) ground cover with silver grey paint leaves , here combining utterly with a white variegated euphorbia ( Euphorbiasp . ) .
A purple ornamental Allium cepa ( Alliumsp . ) indicate off beautifully here meld with fern . It almost looks like the ferns are bloom !

A view of part of Ruth ’s garden handwork prove her accent on rich shades of green , but with peak of color here and there .
This butterfly stroke certainly appreciates the flowers . It has settled on a lantana ( Lantana camara , Zones 8–10 or as an yearly ) , which is a plant always well love by butterflies .
A study in shade of green . Sometimes light-green fade into the scope in a garden , but without any flowers , this scene countenance you to take a moment and appreciate all the different refinement and variation of green and how beautiful they are .

Here the green is broken up with delicate bloom of astilbe ( Astilbe chinensis , Zones 4–8 ) and comfortable chairperson welcoming you to ride back and enjoy the quiet beaut .
