Views from the garden through the spring and summer
Today we ’re direct to Michigan to visit Dale Dailey ’s garden and look back at the highlight from the retiring class .
spring in central Michigan commence too soon , with many of the early risers experiencing frigid weather and snow . This is a scene from this time .
But as the summertime arrived , the same area exploded into a profuse scene .

Other garden areas come into their own . The Japanese garden feature a fresh central tree diagram , a weeping redbud(Cerciscanadensis‘Ruby Falls ’ , Zones 5–9 ) .
A dry stream surface area in front of our house features daylilies(Hemerocallishybrids , Zones 3–9 ) along each side and a purpleness - leaved , contorted hazelnut ( Corylusavellana ‘ Red Dragon ’ , zone 4–8 ) .
The alpine garden continued to provide surprises , especially after a hard winter . This hardy cactus(Escobaria vivipara , Zones 4–8 ) was particularly outstanding .

Another limited plant , aSpigelia marilandica(Indian pink , Zones 4–9 ) came into full bloom this summertime in a fly-by-night area .
I have also been nourish a mathematical group ofgeraniumswith vary leaves that have popped up from source . I am hopeful that one of them will keep its variegation and be able-bodied to be propagated .
Another favorite smear is the shady garden region that I see as I ride up the driveway . It includes a well - found bent of genus Funka , astilbes , epimedium , and othershade - sleep with plants .

We live on a stale gravel road , but I have make a small , broken garden expanse around our letter box . The surface area sport some knotty spiderworts(Tradescantiavirginiana , Zones 4–9 ) and daylilies .
A supporter used his drone to take an overhead photograph of a subdivision of the garden . The photo provides a good sense of the layout to the due east of our house . It afford a whole new perspective to the garden .
