I have done the same for the last few long time and happen it works wonderfully .
It ’s really dim-witted and does n’t take much opinion . I ’ll apportion how I do it , then you’re able to fine-tune in your own gardens however you like .
The basic estimate : throw everything out in the volaille run ( or inside the hencoop , if it has a poop floor like ours does ) and let the chickens turn it into compost .
If you have free - kitchen range birds without a dirt - level Gallus gallus hencoop , this method acting is a non - entrant . I have found that rent birds totally free range is more trouble than it ’s worth , as I ’ve lost many birds to predators , plus witness where they lay the eggs is a total infliction .
Ideally you could poise “ external time ” with safety , as keeping birds locked up in a coop all the clip is sad … but finding eviscerate corpses of doll drag behind the barn is also pitiful .
Currently we keep our set hens lock up in the cage for the safety of their nut . female parent with unseasoned biddy are also kept inside . Throw Compostable Items to the Birds!
Yard “ thriftlessness ” , weed , kitchen scraps , picnic persist … if it ’s organic and will break down in a reasonable amount of time , confound it to your hens .
When you prune trees you may take the entire pruned branch and toss them into the Gallus gallus test . When all the parting fall off , draw the branch out again and hold them intoa hugelkultur heap , turn theminto biochar , or use them forrocket stove fuel .
The leaves will be turn into compost by your birds , and then you may expend that compost in your garden .
This female parent biddy and her chick started bust into the leaves and garden “ waste ” as presently as I discharge it in the cage :

Make a Compost Sifter and Start Sifting
I used to have a compost sifter made from atmospheric pressure treated wood with ironware cloth arrest on it . Now I just utilize a dead set while of hardware textile . Redneck , but it works .
Throw the dirt and compost from the floor of your coop or crybaby run onto the ironware cloth and sieve it through . This keeps the stone and big piece of junk out of your garden , though if you were go to use this chicken run compost for fruit trees you could just shovel it into a wheelbarrow and skip the winnowing .

you could see various twigs and detritus leave behind by the chick . finally everything woody will wear down , so I do n’t take the little twigs out of the running play – I just leave them to be turn and manured by the crybaby until they ’re compost .
Wrapping It All Up
The compost I reap from the chicken coop in today ’s TV was the clay of a compact stratum of leaves and dope we rake up during a yard light - up day . The inside of the cage was mostly 6″ deep in it and you could see how thin the stratum is now .
I glean a total of two five - gallon buckets of compost from the coop when all was said and done .
Five gallons of compost was spread across my garden beds and the stay five gallon I set aside tomake potting soil .
Heck , I ca n’t even succeed a formula in the kitchen without changing it , let alone do so in my garden .
